outfit du jour: sigh no more

Another Inspiration Monday at Two Birds. I really liked this week's outfit because it's something I'd probably wear already. Plus, I have been dying from a denim vest lately and this outfit gave me an excuse to cut the sleeves off an old denim jacket I never wore.

Vintage Dress: Thrifted, $3., Denim Vest: Refashioned from Jacket, Celebrity Pink, apx. $20., Belt: from another dress., Necklace: F21, $8. Sunglasses: F21, $5.

Details on this denim vest. I'd had the jacket forever and never wore it and have really been wanting a vest so I just cut the sleeves off.

outfit du jour: fools

Ever since I saw Elaine over at Clothed Much wearing her gorgeous crown braid, I've wanted to try one. Problem is, I'm hair styling challenged. I mean, it took me forever to get the hang of a regular braid and forget french braiding. I just can't do it. So I thought I'd never be able to do a crown braid...which is why I'm so proud that yesterday I did...sort of. This is actually a Heidi braid. It doesn't meet in the back, but maybe I'll figure out how to do that one day.

outfit du jour: we used to wait/kreativ blogger award

This outfit is one I was pretty disappointed in. I had been very excited about this dress, and I still am. It's yellow, has long sleeves, hand made, vintage, most likely from the '60s...what's not to love? But when I put it on...it's a different story. It just doesn't feel like me and it's kinda big. I gave it a shot though yesterday and while I love the dress, I don't think it's something that I feel right in, so if you like it too, keep an eye out. It'll probably end up on Etsy soon. Also, if you leave a comment or become a follower, I'll always return the favor!

Also, one of my favorite bloggers, Georgia at Want To I Think I Love You has been kind enough to give me the Kreativ Blogger Award. So I'm going to tell you ten facts about myself and then give you a few bloggers you absolutely need to know about. Facts:

1. I have always loved thrifting and vintage clothes. I was that weird girl in high school who wore thrifted things and probably confused everyone just a little bit. I even loved getting Christmas presents for my family at thrift stores when I was very young.

2. I don't really enjoy watching movies. They just kind of bore me. I'd rather read, 95% of the time.

3. I have the worst sinus/allergy problems. I deal with them on a daily basis and spring just makes it worse.

4. All the money I spend on clothes...I'd rather spend it on music.

5. I used to hate pasta and now all I want to eat is ravioli in marinara sauce or fettucini alfredo.

6. My favorite colors right now are all neutrals: creams, whites, greys, tans, black, etc.

7. I love hot weather and I can't wait for it to get here to actually stay.

8. I keep my toenails painted all the time because I don't like the look of plain toenails.

9. Watching Coachella live from home this weekend was kind of amazing. I'd guess better than being there.

10. I am terrible at braiding hair. I wish I were better.

Blogs You Need to Know About

outfit du jour: let's get lost

Whenever I put this outfit together I wanted to give it a bit of a 'hippy-playing-in-mom's closet' vibe because I *love* this dress and it's great vintage feel but it doesn't exactly fit into the style of dressing that I feel best in and am trying to be true to. (If you haven't read yet, I recently decided that since I feel most comfortable in '60s/'70s-inspired kind of free spirited outfits, I want to try to incorporate that into my style of dressing everyday.) However, I couldn't figure out what shoes to wear, so I put on my silver glitter pumps and since I now always feel the need to wear a hat or a headband, I decided to wear this feathered headband that I got for Christmas but hadn't worn yet. Anyway, in the end, this outfit seemed to take on a '60s/'70s/flapper kind of mixed-up vibe. Maybe I'm the only one who can see it. I think I like it though.
