outfit du jour: hanging on the telephone

Jeans: City Streets, $5., Sweater: Old Navy, $10. (you'll probably notice me wearing way more Old Navy stuff than I used to cause I worked there for a year), Shawl: Charlotte Russe, $5., Hat: Thrifted, $4. Shoes: Secondhand Jeffrey Campbell Litas, $60.

For about the past year or so, I've been going through a scarf phase. I don't even know if it's safe to call it a phase because I love them so much. I have them in pretty much every style imaginable (thrift stores, duh!)---snake print, leopard print, skulls, paisley, studded, sequined, fringed, silk, plaid, etc. And several months ago on one of my increasingly rare trips into an actual shopping mall, I found that Charlotte Russe had racks and racks and racks of amazing infinity scarves on sale for $5, which is a bargain in scarf-land. So I picked out a couple and brought them home. I loved them, but as the months have worn by and I've tried to wear them, they just didn't seem to lay right, and the more I look at them in the mirror, I felt like they made my neck look shorter (which makes me look shorter, and at 4'10, I don't need that). So the other night I was looking for something to wear and thinking that what I do really love and want to wear right now are shawls and kimonos. So I cut a couple of my infinity scarves up the seam, and turned them into amazing shawls. And now I plan to wear these all the time!
