outfit du jour: willful suspension of disbelief

Honestly, this outfit doesn't feel right to me at all. I've had this dress since I was in high school, and have been looking for an opportunity to wear it again, to help me decide if it's worth keeping or not. Since Tammy at Silver Style has started a new link up, Trending Through the Decades, which I've been really excited to participate in, and the theme this week was polka dots, I thought it was the perfect chance to wear this dress. I think I've decided it's time to donate this one, because it just doesn't fit my style anymore, but I'm glad I gave it one more chance.

Dress: super old, I don't remember where it was from or how much it was. Sweater: Old Navy, $20.

Vintage Love Knot Earrings: Secondhand, Gift.

Vintage Bag: Secondhand, Gift.

Shoes: Jessica Simpson, $32.

  14. That polka dress is beautiful! But if it doesn't fit your style anymore, I agree with donating it, it would make someone else's day brighter when they get their hands on it, so you're doing a good thing here :) And I just like that red vintage bag, it's in such pristine condition.

    Cheers,

  17. I think you look lovely. Not exactly the look you usually put out there but fits your "retro" vibe.
Dump it or keep it, if it doesn't make you happy and feel special...........donate.
Thank you so much for linking up. I'm happy that I have 6 so far! Next week I have to make it a more narrow window. I feel like I can't do a new post until the window has expired and I always have something to say and share.
    What do you think?

  18. I think you look great! I have been looking everywhere for polka dots. If it is a trend, someone forgot to tell the merchants in Wichita!

  19. It's adorable... my instinct would be to keep it, but I'm a recovering hoarder! I'm sure whoever thrifts it next will put it to good use!

  24. what an interesting concept, trending through the decades!! Glad you found a use for this dress. I have pieces like that, the ones you don't want to part with but never wear. As soon as you toss them, there is the occasion you've been waiting for and you think, if only I had that dress right now! You look great!

  25. I totally do that too - wear something for the last time knowing I'm going to give it away. It's like our last little good-bye. ;)

  26. I do that very same thing--wear an item one more time before deciding to give it away. I guess it's like closure :) Don't give those shoes away though, those are hot!
