Outfit du Jour: My Little Japanese Cigarette Case

My idea for today to make your summer clothes work in fall, and the fourth idea in my 15 Ways to Wear Summer Clothes in Fall series, is to wear a flannel shirt. First of all, I know most of you understand this, but I feel like I should diffrentiate for some people: flannel is not a synonym for plaid. If you're wondering if a plaid shirt is flannel, feel it. If it's soft and somewhat fuzzy feeling, and seems like it would be warmer than a regular thin plaid shirt, it's probably flannel. Flannel can come in *any* pattern, so don't limit yourself. I love oversized flannel shirts but I found this fitted one several years ago and have worn it a lot. I love the 3/4 length sleeves and the hood. Try pulling a flannel shirt on over a t-shirt or tank top and belting it if it's too big. I layered this one with a really light weight floral print shirt I thrifted for $2 a few weeks ago and I liked the unsual aspect of having the underneath layer be the longer one, but play with the look and wear it however you like. You can't go wrong with flannel!

Jeans: Levi's, $35.

Blue and White Shirt: Thrifted, $2.

Red Flannel Shirt with Hood: Love, Lola, apx. $5.

Gold Headband: 1/5 of a package from Rugged Warehouse, $3.

Vintage Sunglasses: These are possibly my favorite sunglasses at the moment. I can't stop wearing them.

Gold Post Earrings: Carole, Inc., $4 for a set of three.

Purple and Gold Vintage Ring: This was my mom's. I love it. I wore it today to do some thrifting, yardsaling and to go to the sidewalk sale at Ear X-Tacy, and half way through my second Goodwill, the stone fell out so I'm going to have to get it reset.

Gold Elephant Ring: F21, apx. $4.

Owl Ring: Charlotte Russe, $4.

Silver Band: 1/6 of a set from Wet Seal, apx. $5.

Silver Rhinestone Love Ring: Urban Outfitters, $10.

Gold Rope Bracelet: Target, $5.

Blue Denim Bag: Old Navy, $7.

Shoes: Envy, $8.

  1. I had a couple plaid shirts I wore all summer. I love them so much, but they are not particularly warm. This autumn I want to get some nice flannel plaid shirts that will keep me warmer.

Omgsh! I love your owl and "love" rings! I really want to wear more rings, but my fingers are big and I'm allergic to metal - both of which make it difficult.... :(

I'm loving your summer-to-winter posts so far! Keep up the good work!! :D
